Elliot + Megan | Engaged

If you want to know how much I love you, count all the waves in the sea...

I don’t think I could have asked for a better first shoot for my return to the west coast. Meet Megan and Elliot. Megan is a good friend and sorority sister of mine. After hearing about her engagement and my news of returning to the west coast, we knew we had to do something amazing and meaningful for her engagement shoot. We set off to her gorgeous beach home in Manzanita, OR. I’ve never been to Manzanita, but I am REALLY a fan. I loved it. Despite the short spurts of rain (hey… we are in the PNW!) we couldn’t have asked for a better day to shoot!

Megan and Elliot met through work and have known each other for many years. I think my favorite tidbit of their love story is the fact that Elliot was long referred to as the “Hot Maintenance Guy” before they started dating. After a few games of Words with Friends the two eventually started dating…

Now, prepare to swoon. The proposal story just about kills me every time. While on a family trip that started in Instanbul, Elliot had managed to ask every family member for their permission to marry Megan without her even noticing. Later on the trip, they had plans to hike up an old ruins castle in Turkey one evening to catch the sunset. After sunset, everyone started heading back down the castle but Elliot hung back with Megan. He had asked Megan’s sister to take a photo of the two of them, and as he turned back towards Megan, he got down on one knee and proposed! Despite a slight hiccup of putting the ring on the wrong finger at first (adorable) the two headed back down the castle to meet up and share the news with the rest of their family. Meanwhile, the Megan's family was furious that they were holding up the entire group (they had no idea it was because Elliot was proposing!) But when they finally caught up and explained the hold up, everyone was elated! Megan and Elliot continued to walk down the castle which was lined with street vendors offering their congratulations, when an old wise Turkish woman stopped them upon hearing the news and told them that their love would be as strong as the castle walls…

Okay. Amazing- amiright!? I had so much fun smores-ing and champagne popping along the Oregon coast with these two and couldn’t have asked for a better couple to welcome my camera and I back to the west coast!
