Desert Engagement Session in Washington State
Desert style engagement in photos in Washington State ?
You wouldn’t even think that’s possible living here amongst the evergreen trees, rain and mountains. But friends, I’m here to show you that this state is simply magic. We scheduled Allison and Tyler’s engagement session in March. A month in the PNW that is dicey on what type of weather you can expect. In true PNW fashion, it was absolutely downpouring at home on the day of their session (like, windsheild wipers highest setting pouring) We had made the plan to drive over the pass for better weather- and boy did we find it. The clouds dried up and parted, the sun came out and we had the best time capturing their engagement photos.
What to wear for your PNW Engagement Photos
When thinking about your engagement photos in the PNW and what you want to wear, I normally recommend 2-3 outfits. I also recommend taking into consideration the terrain and scenery (and weather) that we are going to be shooting in. I loved Allison and Tyler’s outfit choices. We were cliffside most of their session, and the movement in her dress made for some dynamic images. They kept the colors of their clothes neutral and complimentary to the scene we were shooting in.
Embrace the Elements for your Engagement Session
We did their engagement photos on a cliffside in Washington State. It gave us beautiful scenic views but it also gave us some pretty intense wind, especially when we moved to our last location overlooking the river. I actually love how much movement it added into some of these shots though. I usually take extra photos in these conditions to account of hair across faces and crazy wind moments but Allison and Tyler made it easy by embracing it and having fun with the wind.

are totally possible and a great option for days when it’s downpouring on the west side of the state. You can find cliff sides, fields, and rocky areas to explore and they make for beautiful photos. I loved my session with Allison and Tyler, it was complete with a late night Mcdonald’s stop on the way home so we could all fuel up for the drive back!
