Discovery Park Engagement Session
Lauren and Derrick’s engagement session started downtown Seattle. They live in an apartment right in the city so we hopped on their rooftop to do some photos with more of an urban feel but quickly jumped in our cars to head out to Discovery Park to catch sunset. We were pushing it pretty close to sunset thanks to Seattle traffic but we made it just in time for the last bit of light this summer day had to offer. I love Discovery Park for so many reasons (it’s easy, beautiful, big, there’s plenty of room to find space from other humans, it’s dog friendly.. the list goes on) It was the perfect way to end their session soaking in that sunset. They styled their session perfectly doing a more urban look in the city then when we got to the park, Lauren put on a long orange dress that complimented the park PERFECTLY. I usually recommend a long flowy dress to most of my engagement sessions because they photograph beautifully. The loose flowy dresses tend to add extra movement into photos and really create more dynamic images.
When aiming for a sunset session, I typically recommend trying to be there within the last two hour of light before the sunset time. With our plan to hit to locations with 15 minutes between them in downtown Seattle, we had to keep an eye on our time at both locations to make sure we’d get out to Discovery in time. Lauren and Derrick are getting married in Palm Springs and adding a little bit of Seattle to their wedding story was the perfect addition for them!
