2020 | Year In Review

2020.

Challenging. Stressful. But Also Not? Uncertainty. Elopements. Change. Adapting. Growing. This year was testing in so many ways, but there was also so much good that DID come out of this year that it wouldn’t be even near accurate to say this year sucked. I CHOOSE to focus on the GOOD, my friends. SO HERE WE GO.

2020 BUSINESS HIGHLIGHTS

  • 56 Couples + Family Sessions

  • 13 Weddings (in 2.5 months)

  • 11 Elopements

  • 4 Days of Mini Sessions in the Fall

  • Launched my first PRESETS

  • Shot my first LGBTQ Wedding

  • Traveled Internationally for a Wedding

  • Visited 2 NEW National Parks for Elopements

  • Was a speaker for a Photography Summit

  • Offered Mentor Sessions

So, can we just take a second to pause. And soak this in. Because we had basically 3 months of quarantine lock down that cancelled / postponed every single thing off of my calendar. My entire wedding season moved from a span of 5 months into 11 weeks, and because I work with such amazing couples who worked WITH me to make things happen- WE DID IT!

PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS

  • Threw an epic 30th Disco Dance birthday party (In January- this was really the last MASSIVE party of the year)

  • Relearned to LOVE being HOME + got some quality time with our new puppy.

  • Went to the Rose Bowl, Traveled to Big Bend, Yosemite + Cabo!

  • GOT PREGNANT! Finally finally finally.

  • Celebrated my 5 year wedding anniversary

  • Spent plenty of time at the lake in the summer (in normal summers, I don’t usually GET to do this)

It was a GOOD year. But let’s let some photos do the talking now.

In January of 2020, I was coming off of a year of major burnout. I shot so many weddings (I tried to shoot AS MANY AS I POSSIBLY COULD) and didn’t say NO to anything- 2019 was a year of hustle. My 2020 focus was INTENTIONAL. I wanted to MORE purposeful when choosing what I was going to take on, deliberate on how I was spending my time- in an attempt to help rebalance my WORK/LIFE balance and slow down a bit. WELP- if 2020 handed that to me on a silver FREAKING platter. And to be honest, I REALLY enjoyed this time. My word for 2021 is going to be DEVELOP. I’m going to be welcoming our first baby into this world right before my 2021 wedding season kicks off, and while I am so excited- I am so nervous. I know I will have so much to learn about being a mom in general. Then I will be learning how to be mom and run a business. And how to breastfeed and shoot a wedding. And how to juggle the struggle of being gone on weekends but wanting to be home with your squish. There’s going to be a lot to LEARN this year, and I am going to do myself to do it while giving myself some GRACE along the way.
